Meet Zöe Franklin
Your Lib Dem MP for Guildford
A strong local voice for Guildford and our villages
Zöe Franklin was elected as Guildford's MP in 2024. After years of the Conservatives failing us, we now have an MP who will put her constituents first and uphold the standards the public expects from their elected officials.
Zöe is local, grew up in Farnham and studied in Guildford at the University of Surrey. She lives in the centre of Guildford with her husband Chris and has two children who attend local schools.
She was a borough councillor for the Stoke area of north Guildford from 2008 to 2015 and stood in both the 2017 and 2019 General Elections. In 2019 she increased the Lib Dem vote share by 13.5 percentage points and slashed the Conservative majority to just 3,337. She has also been a school governor and charity trustee.
In 2024 she secured 22,937 votes and 47.5% of the vote share. This gave her a comfortable lead over the Conservatives with a majority of 8,429, making her Guildford's newest MP. She is also the second Lib Dem MP for Guildford since 1910.
Zöe has a strong record of fighting for local communities across Guildford and the surrounding villages.
She has spent over 10 years fighting for a fairer, stronger and greener future for all our local communities. One where everyone has the NHS, social care and mental health support they need; where no one faces discrimination because of their race, gender, sexuality, religion or social background; and where everyone has access to the education and opportunities they need to fulfil their potential.
Zöe knows that only by working together can we achieve these goals and she is committed to working with local people, councillors, businesses and other organisations to make it happen.
