Let Surrey Vote Petition

The decision has been taken to cancel the local elections, scheduled for this May in order for Surrey to be one of the first wave of Councils undergoing local government reform. With so much going wrong with Surrey County Council - from terrible failings in child safeguarding and Special Educational Needs, to our perennially potholed roads - residents deserve the opportunity to hold “the powers that be” to account. It is profoundly undemocratic to allow the leadership of SCC to escape the scrutiny of the electorate at this critical moment, under the guise of local government reform. We ask that the government reverses the decision to cancel our elections, and allows Surrey’s residents to have their say on Surrey’s future in May 2025. We believe that democratic decision making must be at the heart of this process - not a victim of it.
