Catherine Houston

Guildford Borough Councillor for Shalford

Catherine Houston moved to Guildford just before Christmas 2001 with her family, then to Shalford twelve years ago. She works locally in Peasmarsh as a marketing manager. She has spent many years involved with a local swimming club and continues to organise their holiday training camps.

Making Guildford's streets safer for women and girls is a priority and she was disappointed that the Liberal Democrat's motion to the council to make Guildford a safer borough was rejected by all other parties in early 2022 and wants to see this revisited in the next term.

As a mother to young adults, she has two particular concerns: the lack of affordable homes available to rent or buy locally, forcing young people to move away from their roots and also the urgent need to fight the climate crisis. She is a supporter of the Shalford, Chilworth and Peasmarsh Climate Action Group.
