Guildford’s new Liberal Democrat MP, Zöe Franklin delighted to perform the official opening ceremony of the relaunched “New Rose”.

The long-established Indian Restaurant on Woking Road has been refurbished, and under new management, celebrated its grand opening with a champagne reception.

The evening’s hosts, Sunil and Prakriti, welcomed more than 90 guests with a drink, a buffet and live traditional music performed by instrumentalists on the tabla and sitar.

A collection was taken on the night for a charity working with homeless people in Nepal.

Zöe Franklin said: “It is a great privilege to be invited to open the New Rose. The restaurant has a 20-year history of serving wonderful Indian food, and judging by tonight’s taster menu I expect to see it going from strength to strength.

“I know that Sunil, Prakriti and all the team have worked so hard on the new menu, redecorated inside and planned this wonderful opening event. I wish them every success.”

Zöe added: “It is so wonderful to see so many people here for the official opening. It’s been such a fantastic evening of enjoyment, socialising, and everyone loved the live music.”
