Sue Doughty presented her petition of over 17,000 signatures to stop the NHS cuts and the proposed closure of the A&E department of the Royal Surrey County Hospital to Professor Chris Marks, Chairman of the Save the Royal Surrey appeal.

The presentation took place at the main entrance to the hospital following the meeting of the campaign group which now includes all the political parties in addition to other independent members.

Sue said "There is no family in Guildford who is not affected at some time by the Royal Surrey and all have enormous reason to be grateful for the care they receive there. I started this petition in the summer and we have been overwhelmed by the number of people asking for forms and sending them back to us.

"I now want everyone to back the Save the Royal Surrey group in our fight to keep this fine hospital with its dedicated staff and leading medical skills."
