Stoughton Lib Dems working for local environment

3 Feb 2008

Stoughton's Lib Dem team are working hard to improve the local environment in their ward.

Cllr Wendy May said, "New lighting has been installed at the Wooden Bridge overpass to improve both the look and public safety."

Cllr Gill Harwood said, "I am glad something has been done to improve the look of the bridge. It was looking a bit drab and the improvements to safety will be an added bonus."

The local Lib Dems are also pushing for improvements at the junction of Worplesdon Road and Byrefield Road.

The Lib Dems are welcoming the addition of bollards and new parking bays on Worplesdon Road and the junction of Byrefield Road. The bus stop will be moved to allow for the parking bays which it is hoped will mean the end of parking on the corner and pavements at the Byrefield Road junction.

Cllr Pauline Searle said, "We are delighted that something is being done at last to try and improve the visibility at this junction as vehicles parking on the junction and pavements in this area has been a problem for far too long. I think the addition of the bollards and parking bays will provide a viable solution for both residents and local businesses alike."

The improvements are being partially funded by "S106 money" from Queen Elizabeth Park.
