MAKE ENERGY BOSSES PAY

Zöe Franklin and the Liberal Democrats are calling for more to be done to help households in Guildford with rising bills.

Over recent months many people have been on the brink - with huge prices rises on everything from food to heating bills.

Zöe said: "The Liberal Democrats have been leading calls for action to help struggling households. Earlier this year we argued for an emergency cut in VAT to ease rising food costs.

"We were the first party to demand a freeze in energy bills. It is disgusting that, throughout this crisis, oil and gas companies are still making huge profits."

As costs continued to rise, the Conservative Government failed to act - their MPs spending the summer and autumn fighting amongst themselves. The Government has lurched from crisis to crisis, the Conservatives have proven time and time again they are not fit to lead our great country.

Zöe added: "The Conservatives are still refusing to tax oil and gas company profits - choosing instead to borrow more, storing up problems for the future. Their energy price cap is almost double that of 2021."

The Lib Dems are calling for energy bills to be properly frozen by keeping the previous cap in place, funded by a tougher windfall tax on the record profits of oil and gas companies.
