Lib Dems celebrate seven borough parks getting a Green Flag Award
Lib Dems running Guildford Borough Council are celebrating that seven local parks have received a Green Flag Award this year. The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
In total Guildford Borough Council's parks team maintain:
- 50 countryside sites
- 65 parks and gardens
- over 30 playgrounds
- 1,100 hectares of green space
These green spaces contribute to local people's wellbeing. They also have a positive impact on the environment.
Seven parks have met the Green Flag Award criteria for 2022:
- Allen House Grounds
- Chilworth Gunpowder Mills
- Onslow Recreation Ground
- Stoke Park
- Sutherland Memorial Park
- The Castle Grounds
- The Riverside Nature Reserve
Lib Dem Councillor for the Environment on Guildford Borough Council, James Steel, said:
