Liberal Democrats feature Guildford candidate Zöe Franklin in primetime national TV election broadcast
Liberal Democrat candidates and campaigners have knocked on more than a million doors so far this year.
The Party has heard time and time again how badly people are being let down by the Conservative government, and how voters are desperate to have local and parliamentary champions who “get it”. Representatives who understand the concerns and needs of members of their own community; from potholes to policing, housing, local health services, and caring for loved ones.
Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said: “It is fantastic for the country to see the next generation of Liberal Democrat MPs who will fight for their local communities.
“Britain desperately needs change and a wave of new MPs with fresh ideas and a hunger to stand up for people. For the sake of our NHS and precious environment, the general election cannot come soon enough.”
Guildford’s Parliamentary candidate Zöe Franklin commented: “I was delighted to use this opportunity to speak on behalf of voters in Guildford to stress the huge importance of politicians listening to local communities, and acting on what really matters to people.”
Filmed next to the River Wey in the heart of Guildford, Zöe Franklin speaks of voters’ “disgust” at privatised water companies pumping sewage in our waterways, and the Government letting them get away with it.
Zöe also raises the devastating impact of the failure of the social care system under the Conservative government, and of the “catastrophic costs” faced by those who need care.
Zöe Franklin added: “Voters in Guildford, and across the country, are desperate for the chance to make their voices heard and to demand change. I stand ready to be our committed and hard-working champion in Parliament, and to fight for a fair deal for Guildford.”
