Caroline Reeves

Caroline has lived in Friary for more than twenty years and was first elected to Guildford Borough Council in 2006. Working as a freelance book designer Caroline has an interest in the business community and their needs in the town. She also understands the problems car ownership can bring in the town and has campaigned for increased spaces for residents parking and the establishment of a car club. As a member of the planning committee, Caroline has tried to balance the need for more housing against the loss of open spaces.

Caroline says, "When I moved to Guildford 31 years ago I was still working as a freelance book designer with a studio in London, commuting daily. With the arrival of affordable internet and Apple Macs I decided to work from home, and from that point became much more aware of community life here in the town. I was elected as a Lib Dem councillor in Friary & St Nicolas in 2005."

"I am particularly interested in the redevelopment of the town centre and North Street, having seen the previous plans fail, and I sit on panels for both groups. As a Trustee of Guildford Action, working with them to support the homeless, I have a regular reminder of our need for affordable housing across the borough. I walk through the ward several times a day to get to meetings and I thoroughly enjoy being able to talk to residents to keep in touch with the many and diverse local issues."
