About Guildford's Liberal Democrats

The Guildford Liberal Democrats local party covers the borough of Guildford and has a long record of service to our community through our hard-working borough and county councillors along with our many dedicated volunteer activists.

Councillors

The Liberal Democrats in Guildford have 9 borough councillors and 3 county councillors. We're the official opposition on both the borough and county council. Find out more about our councillors here.

Volunteers

The party's great strength lies in the support of the many volunteers who help us stay in touch with the borough's residents. From talking to residents, to clerical work and delivering leaflets, they are the key to our continuing success in championing our communities. We are always looking for people to join our growing team. Click here to Volunteer.

Members

Despite the disappointing result of the 2015 General Election, tens of thousands of supporters have signed up as new members to the national Liberal Democrat party. Being a member of the party, locally and nationally, is important because our members decide policy, the direction of our Party, choose our representatives, and are a vital part of the team. Our Principles

The Liberal Democrats are different. We believe in putting people first, in enabling them to achieve their potential and giving them control over their own lives. We believe in equality, opportunity and community and stand for the rights of everyone, no matter what their backgrounds are. As it says at the beginning of our party constitution:

The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
