"Resignation from the Front Bench isn't enough."

Dear Anne

With the installation of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister yesterday and his subsequent cabinet appointments it is clear that the Conservative Party has taken a dangerous lurch to the right.

In your resignation as Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills on Tuesday you stated "I have grave concerns about leaving the EU without a deal" and "it is important for me to be free to do what I feel is right for the country and my constituents".

Resignation is not enough - you have simply moved to the back benches to watch a home secretary who favours the death penalty and a Foreign Secretary who was surprised to find where Dover was located. Of course the list of inappropriate appointments does not end there. Are you really going to sit and watch the extreme right take over your party?

If you truly want to represent your residents, I urge you to:

  1. Endorse a People's Vote. The people deserve a final say on Brexit.
  2. Denounce Boris' Johnson premiership and policy direction that puts our British values of tolerance, respect and liberty at risk.
  3. Support a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson and the Conservative government paving the way for a General Election. Doing so gives the people of the UK a chance to democratically choose their leader rather than having one that doesn't match their values.

The people of Guildford, Cranleigh and our Villages deserve a government that truly represents their values - as their current MP you must stand up for them.
