Equitable Life investors have waited long enough

Following a meeting today with Philip Spencer, a local organiser of the Equitable Life Action Group (EMAG), Sue said:

"I'm appalled at how long it has taken the government to get to grips with this scandal. The problem started before I was elected to Parliament in 2001 and we still see no progress. In the mean time the government has recognised its responsibilities in other failures, particularly in banking, but investors are still left hanging out to dry. Over 1700 Guildford residents are affected by this and it is just not good enough.

"I hope that the next government understands that if faith is to be restored in the pensions industry, the government must follow the recommendations of the ombudsman and sort out this mess.

"We need some real leadership, not endless handwringing."
