Cllr Chris Ward, Sue Doughty, Cllr Tony Phillips and Cllr Steve Freeman are fighting for services at Dray Court
Dray Court services face cutbacks despite the Conservatives setting record Council Tax bills for the fifth year in a row.
The inflation-busting rise in local people's tax bills will particularly hit elderly residents.
Despite an impassioned plea from Cllr Tony Phillips (Onslow), evening and weekend warden cover will be cut at Dray Court.
Most residents will not receive immediate attention outside of office hours and their 'good night call' will be before 5pm.
Cllr Tony Phillips said, "Dray Court was purpose built to provide the best support facilities for all elderly residents. Sadly it now no longer lives up to that ideal. Conservatives may call this caring but I do not! This is a disgraceful way to treat people."
The Conservatives have also axed freshly cooked meals at lunch clubs. However, Cllr Tony Phillips did manage to get an assurance that the new replacement meals on wheels service would take the food to the central dining area.
The Riverside Centre, run by Age Concern, is also under threat of closure. The Conservatives have cut its grant to push through a 21% pay rise for councillors, despite Lib Dem opposition.
